The Texas Equal right amendment was to prevent the rasct acts towards African American people. Also to decrease the amount of slaves and slaves being bought and sold by whites.

The white people wouldn't let black people or any people of color or any religion that wasn't accepted do things like go to a sports game, use the same restroom as whites, us the same water fountains as white or go to the same school as whites.
