    the reason it is referred to as the cold war is because it was never techneically a war. We never went into battle or declared war.

    Explanation: the reason for this is because both the soviet union and the US has weapons of mass destruction which if used on each other would and could destroy the world. It was a cold war because it was mostly an arms race and a technological race. America wanted to show that it was a world power with a democratic government and wanted to stop the spread of communism form the soviet union
