    Roman slaves usually managed farms.

    Explanation:

    Rome had an expansive population of slaves that usually came front the lands they had freshly conquered.

    These slaves were not involved in public life and were relegated the position of the farmer in the outskirts with little much to show for it as the grain was taken away by the state.

    The farmer had to work and toil and then may have the ability to buy out their freedom if they were lucky.

    This was possible but only a few ever achieved it.
