The Glorious Revolution was caused by the power struggle between British leaders of the parliament and English monarchs. King James II became openly Catholic and tried ruling with no Parliament. The results were an entire new layout of British government. This brought a permanent realignment of power within the English constitution.

The English Bill played a role in establishing a constitutional monarchy in England. This bill was passed in December 1689. The Bill creates separation of powers, limits the powers of the king and queen, enhances the democratic election and supports freedom of speech. In the same way the Glorious Revolution also led to a constitutional monarchy which was restricted by laws such as the Bill of Rights 1689 and the Act of Settlement 1701.
