All came from important Europe empires looking to explore new territories in order to contribute to their own interests.

    Explanation:

North America is a huge territory, its magnificent and extended dimensions allowed it to host groups of people from different cultures and new settlers from diverse parts of Europe,

The three colonies had this important trait in common, all three were ¨world powers' of the age, their pretentions were focused in and out their ¨mother countries¨.

Northamerica was a promising land, that centered the attention of many kingdoms across Europe, but only the biggest and more respected of the era, were capable to maintain colonies in far American territories, the empires of France, Spain, and England, were clear examples of it.
