    The Antebellum Era is defined as after the War of 1812 and before the Civil war (1861)

    Explanation:

    1. Southern Plantation owners formed the "Elites" - Upper South (old money) & Deep South (new money)

    2. Yeaman Farmers or small landowners

    3. Poor Whites - who has no land and would also work on plantations as slave "managers"

    4. Slaves

    Male dominated social structures. Poor whites didn't mind being below the Elites because they all believed in white supremacy, having slaves present would defuse class tension because there was always a lower status.
