Why did some colonist referred to the shooting in Boston as the Boston massacre?

    The Sons of Liberty, a Patriot association formed in 1765 to restrict the Stamp Act, advertised the "Boston Massacre" as a fighting for American freedom and only rationale in the disposal of British soldiers from Boston.
