What happened to Christians in japan in the 1620s?

    Answer: Around 1620 the Tokugawa shogunate banned Christianity. Many converts got killed or became hidden Christians and the European missionaries who came to Japan to spread it were killed or quickly fled Japan.

    they had to renounce their faith or be put to death, they were hunted down and rewards were offered to locate the Christians. Because of this approx 200,000 Christians were put to death
