Although I chose to fight for the Confederacy, I do not regret my decision, which I made for personal reasons. I was able to fight alongside my brother and friends in support of our great state of Virginia. I am antislavery and the war has brought an end to that institution. The Union has been preserved, and I am happy for that. I benefited in many ways from my decision and the outcome of the war.
