Changes in the local law that allowed slavery and owning large tracts of land for plantations.

    Explanation:

The British colony of Georgia was originally settled by immigrants who had very little means, so they received financial assistance from colonial authorities. But starting in 1735, a new influx of settlers arrived in Georgia, mostly from Scotland. These new colonists were wealthy enough so that they didn't need financial support. They immigrated hoping to become rich by acquiring large tracts of land for cotton plantations, and buying slave workforce to work their land. However, local law prevented both owning large plots and slaves. The new settlers were profoundly discontent with these laws, which they felt limited their potential - this is why they became known as the Georgia Malcontents. The Malcontents lobbied and pushed the colonial authorities to change the law and allow slaves and large plantations. The situation wasn't solved until 1750, when slavery was finally allowed in Georgia.
