To have no freedom and you are forced to do things that you do not want to do. You are treated poorly. You are worked to the bone and everything is restricted to you. You are seen as less than. I don't know what country or time period you are specifically asking about but that is what it means to be in slavery.

Answer: Being a slave is when you are legally owned by someone and you're a obligated to obey them
