Why was the battle if vicksburg an important victory for the union?

a-because they didn't have control of a town with 'burg' in the name

b - because Mississippi had the best chicken tenders in the nation

c-because they loved those magnolia trees and wanted to bring the flowers home to their loved ones

d - because the union now gained control over the Mississippi
