The Maya civilization is one of the most famous from the Americas. It was one of the most developed civilizations, and it dominated the Mezoamerican region in its time of existence. This civilization though mysteriously and suddenly collapsed. Even though it is still not sure why this civilization collapsed, there are some things that might have caused this, like too large cities, warfare, and drought. The cities of the Maya were enormous for that period of time, and they were not located in the best places for agriculture. The Maya were very innovative in the agriculture, but the large population might have had something with the collapse. The warfare was a common thing, but it is something that depletes the resources, and with the aforementioned large population, that can cause serious problems. A prolonged drought has also been speculated to have occurred, and if that was the case, with depleted resources from the warfare, and enormous population, the people simply had to move out in smaller groups in order to survive, as it was just simply not possible for them to survive in such conditions.
