    Immigration in the US has a mixed past. Even though America has been viewed as a land of freedom and economic opportunity, there have been some laws in the past that have greatly affected immigrants. One of them is the Immigration Act of 1924. This severely limited the amount of immigrants allowed from one country.

    Along with this, immigrants during the early 20th century often had to pass tests or physical exams in order to enter the US. This was especially true at Angel Island. At this site immigrants had to perform physical activities. Sometimes, these activities were done in a group setting where the immigrants were forced to be naked.
