    Hello,

The White Institution did not recognize slave marriage as legal

    Explanation:

Slaves were under their masters thus every decision they made concerning establishing family relations. Though the masters did not recognize slave marriages, the African Americans would follow some protocols when initiating relationships in plantations. For example, a male slave would first identify the partner and talk with her and after that, the male slave will ask for consent from his master. If the master agrees, he would go to the girl's master and ask the owner to be allowed to interact with the girl. However, slaves families had to struggle and defeat challenges in order to stay together.

    Best of Luck!
