What war was Lt. Hiroo Onoda ordered by his commanding officer to stop fighting, in 1974?

    Hiroo onoda was issued by his higher ups that the japanese imperial army had surrendered to the us after nagasaki and hiroshima were bombed but he believed it was fake and or thought it was a spy on the other end so he continued to fight in the jungles
