    They did not have sophisticated weapons in their struggle to achieve the long-awaited independence, and many of them perished by diseases brought by the colonizers. It was because of this that many of them died as a result of these confrontations and being victims of deadly diseases, since as such they did not want to continue under the domain of the Spanish Crown.
