From your perspective, what do you think the long-term impact of the encomienda system Americas will be?

A horrible longterm harsh slavery system for the American Indians. Most of the American Indian's populations were decimated because of the horrible treatment and their lack of immunity to foreign European diseases such as: small pox. The system forced the natives to starve and be overworked in a slave system.
