Earlier people used to roam farming but later learned to cultivate by staying in one place.

Water is arguably the most essential natural resources needed for farming. But not all society are located near a river. So, people in early farming society move their location from one place to another following the availability of water.

Later on, they started to develop irrigation technique to transfer water from other area to theirs. This mean that they can abandon the roam farming and stay in one place to take care of their farm.
