The effects of the British rule in India were both positive and negative. Positive in the sense that, it brought order and stability to a society badly divided into many states, it also led to an efficient government, the British built structures and systems such as roads, rail, and postal systems among others. Negatively, few Britons and Indians benefited from the rule economically, the manufactured goods killed the local markets and industries.
