How did the military success of the ottoman empire affect europe around the time of the renaissance?

    The military success of the Ottoman Empire had a big influence on the European states and it resulted into much greater unity in Europe.

    The Ottoman Empire at its peak was a very strong military force, and apart from the Russians, no other country managed to back it of in a one on one war/battle. Once the Ottomans took over the Balkans and started closing in on Central and Western Europe by ''knocking'' on the doors of Vienna, the alarm has been set under the threat and the countries from Central and Western Europe united to manage to back their advancement of and not allowed them to penetrate deeper into the continent.
