The Emancipation Proclamation reflects several different ideas from the Declaration of Independence and US Constitution. For example, the Declaration of Independence discusses how Americans are entitled to "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happyness." In the Emancipation Proclamation Lincoln allows for African-American citizens to begin working for a wage in the rebellious states. This ties directly into the idea of pursuit of happyness, as working for a wage allows you to afford a lifestyle that you desire.

The Emancipation Proclamation also related to the US Constitution. The US Constitution discusses how this new government structure is supposed to establish justice for all. The Emancipation Proclamation takes a step towards achieving this goal, granting African-Americans the right to serve in the military and to be free from slavery.
