How woukd you advice an mne to manage the intricacies of china legal environment?

It seems that there is no good protection in China's legal system. There are no proper rules enforcement. The government is driven to local companies.

I would work with the home governments in order to ask the entire Chinese government to honor its commitment to start opening markets, institute and enforce basic economic rules, and the protection of the property rights. I would also insist them in following the world trade organization's rules.
