    I think the Armistice extremely overshadowed the pandemic. This turned public attention from the damage caused by the pandemic.

    Explanation:

    The armstice of 1918 refers to the period when The allied forces managed to defeat Germany's forces in Rhineland. It was regarded as huge victory and a lot of people in United States celebrated this with their friends and family.

    But this victory happened at the same times with the deadliest Flu Pandemic in the American history. The news outlet focused on the victory rather than spreading awareness about the pandemic. Within the first month of its spread, the Flu Killed around 200,000 American People.
