    With African Americans becoming more involved in political arena and work against race segregation. Most notable was the work of Atlanta native Martin Luther King, Jr., who established the Southern Christian Leadership Conference in 1957 in that city.

    This amongst others, led to Atlanta's business community to be pursued in a more open, progressive manner to the African American community than did many other Southern cities.

    Hence, From the 60s, going forward, progression with race relations occurred whereby African Americans and whites work together to deal with racial issues.
