Why did the roman empire not tolerate christianity and what was the result?

    The Roman empire did not tolerate Christianity because they refused to worship the gods or take part in sacrifice, which was expected of those living in the Roman Empire. The Romans saw the Christians' refusal to do so as an act of treason, punishable by death. As a result, Christians were persecuted
