    The purpose of the Democratic National Convention of 1968 was to find a new presidential candidate for the Democratic Party, as President Lyndon B. Johnson had announced he would not seek reelection. Finally, Vice President Hubert H. Humphrey and Senator Edmund S. Muskie were selected as the new President and Vice President, respectively.
