What role does the judicial branch play in making public policy

Determining the scope of a new health care law ... they protect the United States people from government and companies

Their role is to look at the Constitution and make sure everything is looking good, but they are also supposed to make sure they are all have balanced power between each branch as to limit the power of each branch.
