What role did Manifest Destiny play in the expansion of the United States?

Manifest Destiny was the belief that American expansion was justified and inevitable - hence it was "destiny". Since people thought that it was America's destiny, why not go fulfill it at any cost? The idea of Manifest Destiny led to lots of cultural and technological innovation. Especially the use of the railroad and telegram.

Manifest destiny was the belief that America was destined to expand. Due to manifest destiny America expanded. Because of this many families moved to settle new areas, many American Indians were kicked out of their homes, and new beliefs were spread across the continent.
