Why was it economically necessary for the East Germans to build the Berlin Wall?

A. Brain Drain: many skilled workers were fleeing to the west, leaving few people to fill technical and necessary jobs.

B. East Berliners we're big tippers and kept the restaurant business afloat.

C. East Germany had a surplus of bricks and concertina wire.

D. I cannot think of another incorrect reason.
