The rest managed to escape down Route 9 to Khe Sanh. Those 10 deaths were also left out of the official statistics. The American military presence at Khe Sanh consisted not only of the Marine Corps Khe Sanh Combat Base, but also Forward Operating Base 3, U. S. Army
