The cold war was when the two world superpowers, the United States and the Union os Soviet Socialist Republics, were basically using proxy wars, spying, and technological advancments in order to kind of one up one another. There was no direct war between them, that's why it's called "cold". The Soviets was spreading communism and the United States were trying to halt the spread of it, like it was a virus or something, constantly making both countries and other countries uncertain as to what the fate of the world would be. They brought the world to the bink of nuclear destruction multiple times as well. Radical and unpredicatble times if you're an average Joe to say the least.
