From what I remember the answer is (B)

George Washington did so much in defeating the British he thought people would forget all his faults he had done

Answer: B

He wanted to be remembered for the good things he did, one of those being when he gave up office so others would follow suit, but George Washington wasn't a man who thought he was perfect, he knew he made mistakes. He was a very talented soldier with a natural gift of tactic. So B seems like the only one that fits in (given what he wrote and the kind of man he is)
