    Since the late 1990s, Belarus has faced periods of economic instability. The country still has a dependency on imports from Russia, having to spend money on imports that are not developed in Belarus due to its inefficient and outmoded industrial base. Almost 50% of Belarus trade is with Russia, and the dependency on them, basically in raw materials - makes it difficult for Belarus to grow more.
