People were desperate.
Explanation:
Hitler made promises to different groups of people to get their trust. Essentially manipulating them into trusting him and his actions, promising to take care of them and that no one would have to worry any longer. He had a magnificent way of talking and lying. Hitting weak spots he knew people would fall for then using it to his advantage.
