The one cent coin of the United States is the lowest denomination currency of the US dollar. Its symbol is ¢. On the face of the coin stands the portrait of President Abraham Lincoln since 1909, the centenary of his birth. From 1959 to 2008 the Lincoln Memorial on the reverse was highlighted, which was redesigned to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Lincoln, in 2009.
