    With the fear of a devastating nuclear war between the US and the Soviet Union product the Cold War, many Americans sought ways to protect themselves in case of a nuclear attack, one of the ways of doing so was building bomb shelters, also known as "Fallout shelters" were they could potentially live underground for an extended period of time in order to shelter themselves from the nuclear fallout.
