Interest group's primary goal is to change or maintain particular policies that benefit them directly, one segment of society or a bigger public purpose. In order to achieve this, they seek to influence the branches of the government by many methods. In the Courts, for example, one way that interest groups seek to shape policy and influence the decision of a case is through the submission of a written legal document called Amicus Curiae Brief, in which they set out arguments, recommendations, additional information and expertise in a given case.
