    Answer:The 26th Amendment of the US Constitution lowered the legal voting age from 21 to 18 years. There was a large debate during the Vietnam Wars years; young men who were deprived of the right to vote were at the same time being recruited to serve and fight in Vietnam. The amendment was passed by Congress in March, 1971.
