To the best of my knowledge, the irony in the situations described in the essay "When the Negro was in Vogue" by Langston Hughes, is that even thought black were considered second-class citizents across the country, in Harlem, all the entertainments and clubs were among the most popular country and even white people attended or even wrote about the shows.
