The Sunbelt has seen a major population growth since the 1960s. The basic reason for this population growth was the warm and sunny climate of these areas.

The changes in the population shift in the Sunbelt caused the economic and political prominence to be shifted in these areas. Most of the workers and agriculturalists migrated to these lands and hence Sunbelt grew economically since the population shift. New houses and factories started to build up. However, this major shift in population resulted in problems like water shortage in the Sunbelt.
