Consider that militarism is included in the ranks of foreign policy, one of the sectors commanded by a country's president and his team, and that diplomacy is a tool used to develop and maintain peace among nations. In this sense, militarism can affect diplomacy when a sovereign nation decides, along with the congress and other political forces of its country, to intervene in another territory, promoting military actions, such as the invasion of Iraq, for example. The diplomatic relationship between the invading and the invaded country will be severely shaken. In addition, the use of military tactics is often used to resolve disputes, be they by territories, economy, among other factors; such tactics do not always effectively resolve the conflict and sometimes generate even greater and more serious conflicts.
