The American Revolutionary War took place between the years 1775 and 1783, and involved the thirteen British colonies in America, which wanted independence, and Great Britain, which wanted to maintain the colonial rule established by such lands and continue to obtain profits, from taxes, for example. After the end of this conflict, with the victory of the now independent American territory, the United States of America struggled to establish itself as an economic power, but faced difficulties due to the hegemony sustained by Great Britain, which continued to impose its economic wills and power over the former colony. Almost thirty years after the end of the War of Independence, then US President James Madison decided to stop the British from intruding and declared war on them, a decision that brought great economic setbacks for the Americans; this was because, military and strategically, Britain was much more educated and prepared, unlike the ill-organized United States Army. Thus, at the end of the conflict, in 1815, despite not having suffered political loss, the US left the war indebted and even more economically dependent on the British.
