Each state in the USA has a legislature as part of its form of civil government. Most of the fundamental details of the legislature are specified in the state constitution. Fortynine state legislatures are bicameral bodies, composed of a State Assembly and an upper house called Senate. The USA also has five non state territories and one federal district with local legislative branches. 5411 State Assembly seats and 1972 Upper house/senate seats which totals to 7383 seats need to be filled.
