Why did Germany want to isolate France?

    Because Germany believed that if they isolated it then they could defeat it. France is a big country with lots of Allies and multiple trade routes. So if Germany could isolate it and attack and starve it, Germany believed they could actually take one of the strongest countries with a huge navy and air force.
