Colonial powers and administrations caused much divisions in their areas of operation, dividing and separating people from their ancestral homes and origins. There was the scramble to acquire and take from weaker territories and little considerations for what this would mean for the people's heritage and culture. This is seen in the colonialism in Africa that had most black people separated from their homes, shipped and exploited abroad and in their homes too. As a result, generations after these ones have lost track of their culture and identity and have resolved to ethnic wars and civil problems in the bid to find a place and identity.
