    Explanation:

    During the american Civil War, Florida was a relatively small state with half its population made up of slave workers. Florida couldn't contribute much troops to the Confederate army (just about 15,00 men) but proved to be a good source of goods supplier to the Confederate army. Florida supplied the Confederate army with beef and other food produce and so in order to exhaust the already war battered South, the union army enforced a blockage around the coast of Florida.
