    Answer and Explanation:

Getting damaged in the first Punic war, Carthaginians didn't hold back. It has stated that Hannibal has some immense grudge for Romans because he has taken an oath on the hand of his father Hamilcar, general of first Punic war that "never be a friend to Rome."

Hannibal first gets into Spain and then crossed over the Alps of southern France and Italy. Romans weren't prepared for this attack on Italy. Hannibal, on the other side, was fully prepared to take account of Rome. Carthaginians have trained their elephants to fight in a war.

Romans were also defeated because of their odd way of electing generals who took decisions about each and everything. Each Roman consul is the Supreme Commander of his army, and both decide who will be in charge and for what days. Hannibal knows about the temperament of Sempronius, thus taking advantage of that situation.

This second Punic war happened to be so famous because of the blood oaths and vengeance, rivalry from two houses, and because of the war has passed down to father to his son. Moreover, two bloodlines were vying for the fate of world history.
