The danger of populism is that the majority may become a tyranny.

    Explanation:

Populism is a "political tendency that aims to attract the popular classes." Although it is a difficult concept to define exactly as it designates different realities, in the social sciences it is conceived as an ideology that is based on differentiation and Manichean opposition between "the people" (which is viewed positively as a healthy community) and "the elite" (conceived as a selfish and dishonest entity).

On the other hand, the use of the term "populist" is usually done in political contexts and in a pejorative manner, without the term revealing itself an evident ideological identification, but strategic - in the left-right spectrum-.

But the problem of populism is the feeling of its political representatives that the power belongs to the people as a whole. This leads to exceeding their powers and not recognize democratic limits, as they say that "they represent the popular will", which often ends up becoming a tyrannical regime for their opponents, as is happening today in Venezuela.
