Some historians feel that President Truman dropped the atomic weapons on Japan not to end the war in the Pacific, but to impress the Soviet Union with US military power. Given Truman's other options, how do you think a leader today would make the same decision?

    there is a lot of controversy about this. Personally, I do feel like it was done to bulk up to the Soviet Union. It killed a lot of innocent people, but some believe it was a necessary sacrifice to protect their loved ones. But me, personally, i would rather suffer by the loss of my family than have the guilt of killing innocent people.

    i dont think the decision today would be any different.
